In the 1-UMPIRE SYSTEM, the PLATE UMPIRE (PU) has ALL PLAYS at ALL BASES on ALL RUNNERS. It is key that the PU position himself/herself out by the PITCHER’S MOUND on each and every play. This way the PU effectively SPLITS THE DIFFERENCE for any call at any base.
